Dauda Mohammed - Ph.D. student
Dauda joined Prof. Xu Lab in May 2023 as a graduate Research Assistant. Prior to that, he graduated from the prestigious King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Dhahran Saudi Arabia. His research interest focuses on the application of novel UV technologies for the destruction of emerging water contaminants such as organic micropollutants, disinfection by-products, and per-poly fluoroalkyl substances. He is an avid researcher passionate about finding solutions to water and wastewater problems. He has published several research articles on water and wastewater treatment technologies. |
Tajrin Alom Nizhum - Ph.D. student
Tajrin joined Xu’s Lab in August 2023 as a PhD student. She is originally from Dhaka, Bangladesh. She graduated with B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET) in May 2022.Tajrin’s research will be focused on controlling PFAS in agriculture and wastewater. Kira Eliason - Environmental Engineering
Kira joined Professor Xu's group in August of 2023. She is a senior currently working on obtaining her degree in Environmental Engineering, and she is on track to graduate in May of 2024. Her hobbies include writing, drawing, and going on walks. Her research focuses mainly on investigate the formation of decay of disinfection byproducts in distribution systems. |
Selah Mueller - Environmental Engineering
Selah Mueller is an undergraduate researcher majoring in environmental engineering at NDSU. Her research utilizes Far-UVC light to deactivate fecal-indicator bacteria in wastewater. When she isn’t doing research or studying, Selah enjoys doing improv comedy, playing with her dogs, creating art, and baking cookies. After graduation, Selah hopes to apply her knowledge and experience to a career in water remediation and treatment. |
Ashley Goetzfried - Environmental Engineering
Ashley joined Xu's group in February 2023. She is currently a second year student studying Environmental Engineering. She is originally from Bismarck, ND and enjoys being outside and understanding and protecting the environment. Her research is focused on the effect of UV 222 on the decay of certain contaminants (i.e, pharmaceuticals) in wastewater. She is also interested in the Natural resources/Energy side of Environmental Engineering and believe that this research will be beneficial in the future. |
